for starters you need to be on a 4g tariff with a 4g compatible sim card in the uk otherwise your phone will never switch to 4g where its available. unless of course your on the three network who are not charging its customers any extra for 4g when they launch their services in december. Otherwise Ensure you are in a 4g coverage area before you change to 4g tariff * +

at present customers have a choice between EE, 02 and vodafone where 4g services are concerned and three launch their service next month. EE have the most widespread 4g coverage at the moment. Tmobile and orange dont offer 4g in which case you would need to switch to EE who own tmobile and orange. * +

alternatively EE and 02 now off pay as you go 4g sim packages. The 02 deal is the best. *
