Hello everybody. Somehow I have managed to crack the lens of my n8 camera. The crack goes right thru the middle :-( The lens looks like is part of the case and not the camera module. Does anyone know this for sure and how does one replace it? * +

Ok. I have found a place to buy the camera cover but how easy is it to replace it? Does it just pop out and you press the new cover back on? Any ideas? i got told that the back case and the outer lens cover are all one unit and that you cant replace one without the other. cost me 50 quid

Tx for bothering to answer. Clearly you have been toled wrong. While Nokia sells them as a unit, the camera cover can be replaced on its own as you can see from my link. The thing is, I don't know if I must open the entire device or I can forcefully remove it on its own and just pop the new one in. A local 3-party shop, toled me telephonically that it can be done but they use a bit of super-glue to fasten the new camera cover. I am not to keen on that idea. * +

3rd party replacement parts of any kind are just a big 
no no. if you need to fix it with an adhesive you cant guarantee getting it sitting dead flat which would effect the optical performance, never mind the likely inferior quality. let us know your personal findings if you try this out. * +

When i reassembly my n8 , i accidemtally leave my fingerprints on the inside lcd. Had no problem, just wanna look it from inside after drop it while riding motorcycle. * +

there is a video in youtube nokia n8 disassembly watch that video, i think it was done for the manufacturing staff, patiants is whats needed dont rush to take apart * +
