As a step to increase Nokia and symbian grip over developers and end user of US and Canada, Nokia is calling all innovator with 10 million as a prize. Developers have to develop application for N8 and publish it in ovi. They can use any available development kit which includes nokia sdk, nokia qt and java. Brilliant move. The contest runs till Jan 2011, I have a feeling we'll have a Symbian port of every good Android/iOS app and game till that time.

This will also wake up developers too the fact that they've only been focussing on America till now while there's a huge World mobile phone available to be exploited. And most of it runs Symbian. * +

@bobby I can't expect more than 30 of great apps being ported. And I am not sure if porting games will be considered as good candidate for the competition. And if there's less than 10 thousand app competing for the contest, I'd say its failure and nokia will never be able to regain its smartphone market in US/Canada. * +
