Friends, Pls post here what you know about editing Java applications. I do know only how to change icon, name and translate class files. I will discuss them here. I want to publish a page in my site about editing Java applications(someone had also requested). But I need some more info. I wish u'll help. * +

First, applications needed, MiniCommander, Class editor, Class translator etc. Mini Commander will be useful than BlueFTP coz we cannot extract all class files. * +

Now, if you want to edit a application on your s40, you need it in zip format. You can save them as zip while downloading with Ucweb, aEd or any other download manager. Now you can view, extract and replace contents inside the application. * +

Then to change any icon, replace the corresponding icon with another. E.g. If you want to change i.png, then new file should be i.png. Just like theme editing. I assume you know use of mini commander. * +

Then to change the name, open the MANIFEST.MF file inside the META-INF folder inside the application as text. Then you can see its name under MIDLET Name and Change it. But this is not advisable as a tiny mistake can cause invalid application. * +

Then to translate a application. You should know that only some class files contain the text part. Not all. So you will find some empty while editing with class translator. Now, extract the class files to be translated, open them with class translator. You'll now see the text strings. Just translate them and save it. Then replace the previous class files inside the application with new ones. Then erase the extension .zip with a file explorer. Now with phone, rename it to .jar and test your appl * +
