The difference between .jad and .jar is, jad is a descriptor file. That means when you download a jad application through default browser, you will simultaneously download the jar along with the jad. * +

That means application info and the certificate is in the jad file. If you want the signed opera, download .jad from mini.opera.com. Download the unsigned .jar if there is any security problems or .jad fails to install. * +

OK... Let me explain it more practically.... If ur phone supports jad than go 4the jad... If ur phone showing CERTIFICATE NOT ON SIM OR PHONE then go 4the jar.... If ur phone asks VERSION YY IS ALREADY INSTALLED, REPLACE IT? then go 4the jar, not jad.... If it shows INVALID APPLICATION after downloading the jad, then try again with the jar.... If u want a signed application 2b downloaded, then go 4the jad, not jar.... If it shows any other errors while attempting the jad, then go 4the jar.... * +

Remember, if you are not facing any problem downloading the jad then its always better to download the jad... Coz when u download the jar via the jad, the phone stores every details of that jar... And it becomes easier for the phone to deal with that application as the jad contains the details of that jar file.... Hope I've xplained it clearly..... * +
