Welcome to the club, i have the same problem as you with my nokia 3200 phone version a3.12 from february of this year and i cannot get it solve or find the solution to the bookmark problem, when i add or save bookmark to the download folder my phone freeze for 1 minute then turn off and on again 
i need to know what cause it, is it a bad application or what, or a software problem. * +

DONT save anytin in da download folders,itsa prob on most s40 fones. * +

Yep empty your download link folders plus if it gets real bad use your phone book to store all your urls. You can usually add new urls straight from your wap browser if not send the addy as a text message but save the message instead of sending it you can then move it to phonebook when you want. I don't use my bookmarks at all anymore.

I am using the text message section to store bookmark from since february and what i think cause the bookmark problem is a application between or email site from wap.getjar.com or a phone drop * +
