In theory their is no limit but your phones firmware will struggle over 500mb because of the way your media player accesses your mmc. And your phone will go on a major go slow if you try using large mmc. And if you do use a large mmc make sure you format it using your phone before you start storing stuff. Thats my tip of the week * +

if you fill up512mb card like i did your head will be in bits bluetooth it to the comp. then delete everything on your memory card and start again .thats my tip for the millenium *
