There are a few youtube apps you could try. I'm on orange, and i find that the best results for youtube are achieved with operamini4.2, and 3g turned on. * +

Check in your settings menu. It'll be under 'network mode'. If you can change between gsm, umts, and dual mode, then the answer is yes your phone supports 3g. Just depends on the area you live in. 3g covers most of the uk, but some places are stronger than others. * +
