IBN KATHEER ra7hmatul Laah 3Alayh,while commenting on this AAYAH, has stated on the authority of IBN 3ABBAS radheyal Laahu 3Anhu,that HAABEEL presented a ram as sacrifice, and QAABEEL presented a SADAQAH from the harvest of his fields as sacrifice.. According 2 the regulations and custom of that time,a fire descended from the sky and burnt the ram of HAABEEL and left untouched the QURBAAN of QAABEEL.. * +

The sign of acceptance was that a fire would consume the sacrifice.. ALLAAH says in surah AALE IMRAAN: 'an offering which fire shall devour.' The booty gained at the time of JIHAAD was also burnt by a fire that descended from the skies. This was a sign of acceptance.. It is a special favour of ALLAAH TA3AALA, on the UMMAH of MU7HAMMAD Sallal Laahu 3Alayhe Wasallam that the meat of the QURBAAN... * +
