Most of the English soldiers drowned as they were ambushed and forced back into the river as the long knife men came swooping down from either side.It was actually after this battle that Wallace took control after Andrew Murray who was the man leading this battle was killed.

I think the geography had a lot to with it , something to do with a loop in the river .....
I do hope nobody truly celebrates any war though * +

I think they were meant to be sent to pursue a retreating artillery cell and stop them removing their heavy naval guns from their redoubts. Which is the ideal job for light cavalry, whose description of what they are is ideally placed within their name. But it doesnt matter how stupid an order is you will always find someone stupid enough to follow it without question and lead men into a horrible stiff upper lipped death. Lord Cardigan I think it was this time. Im not that big on the Crimea, I think Beery is more into this era. *
