Yes, the US government is a major participant in the global heroin trade that originates in Afghanistan.
This is not a conspiracy theory.

The imams often tell us it is forbidden to grow opium, but when we get our harvest they take a 10 tax. So we think they aren't saying these things because of religion and the holy Qur'an, other people are just telling them to say this. * +

Former Israeli army commander Yehuda Shaul is the founder of Breaking the Silence, a group of 950 current and former combat soldiers who have given testimonies about human rights abuses they witnessed while serving in the West Bank.
Mr Shaul says that when Israeli soldiers see settlers attacking Palestinians, our orders are not to intervene.
I grew up to believe that our actions as a military in the occupied territories are here to protect Israel from terrorism, Mr Shaul said.
What I've learned from my three years of service and nine years of activism and Breaking the Silence, after reading testimonies of over 950 soldiers, is that the main story here is about maintaining our absolute military control over Palestinians.

A spokesman for Israels Foreign Ministry has conceded that human rights abuses of Palestinian children in the West Bank are intolerable and that having soldiers arrest young kids in the middle of the night is problematic.
