Tricky one. It was certainly a big win. The Tudor dynasty was in its infancy under Henry 8th, and as he and the very vast majority of his forces fighting in France it left the defence of the realm under his wife and Earl of Surrey. Had they lost it would certainly have opened up the North of England which was still very rebellious to the Tudor reign so it was very dangerous. Was it as defining as the likes of Crecy or Poittiers or Agincourt? That's hard to answer. * +

It was certainly an horrific battle with 15000 men killed in under 3 hours and it resulted in not just the death of James but nearly all his nobility. It certainly neutralized any further Scottish threat and when France tried to invade later in Henrys reign about 2 years after his marriage to Catherine Parr despite the rumours that there were 30000 men Scottish and French ready to attack the North whilst he defended his southern coastline that threat simply never materialized. * +
