French fascists were strong
defenders of the French
empire in Indochina and North
Africa, and during the interwar
period they attracted
considerable support among
the ruling European minority
(colons) in Algeria. Portuguese
fascists waged colonial wars in
Guinea, Angola, and
Mozambique. Syrian, Iraqi, and
Egyptian fascist movements
also supported territorial
expansionism. * +

Fascism is on the rise in some areas of eastern europe and russia. Hard to say why but some see there rise as a backlash against those that still hanker for the days of communism and partly because some dont like the idea of multiculturalism that they see in the west as failing and destroying national identities .. Ironic how many suffer under fascists during the war yet later generations turn to it! * +

Extreme liberalism will inevitably give rise to extreme nationalism. Probably not such a bad thing as it lets us see how stupid both sides can be if left unchecked. *
