to the learner for every wrong answer he gives, it was a simple way, the teacher had to give a pair of words for the learner to memorize, and then provide him a 4 choice MCQ question to choose which of the word matched the other pair that he had memorized. The Actor was tied to an electrode, with a shock generator that started from 15 v and would go all the way up to 450 v and then x x x. after tying the actor up, the 'researcher' took the teacher to a room adjacent to the learner. * +

There the researcher asked 'em to proceed, the electric shock generator was a bogus btw, oblivious to the participants. So the learner would deliberately give wrong answer, and they would shock him, 15v, 30v, 45v, 60v, 75v, they kept on going, till the actor on the other side started yelling in agony. Guess what did they do? they looked at the researcher for guidance and he would ask them to go on. * +

Then all of a sudden the actor kept quiet giving a hint that he was dead after over 300 fking volts they administered to the guy. They were very anxious and depressed, but the researcher told them, he would be fine and that his silence to the questions must be taken as a wrong answer and the shock should be administered :/ majority of the participants administered shocks till 375 volts before quitting and some even went as far as 450 * +

This proves men under an influential leader can obey commands so much so that they could even take an innocent person's life to fulfill the duty. most were fine with administering shock up to 375 volts perhaps because there was little personal responsibility and that they felt they had to obey the 'researcher' this pretty much was the experiment. They aren't evil, just human nature, it seems. * +

It's cruel and unusual punishment, but how many times do you see people suggest cruel and unusual punishments for paedophiles and the sort? Even in the forums. Does the desire for cruel punishments exist in the hearts of many?

for me, emotionally yes I want p*dos nuts hacked off with rusty scissors. But emotion has no part in trials verdicts and punishment. So while emotionally I want bad things to happen in the real world no I dont agree with corporal or capital punishment. * +
