Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning, so if someone sneezes and then praises Allah, then it is obligatory on every Muslim who heard him, to say: May Allah be merciful to you (Yar-hamuka-l-l ah). But as regards yawning, it is from satan, so one must try one's best to stop it, if one says 'Ha' when yawning, satan will laugh at him. Sahih Bukhari 8:73:242 * +

Madme... some strange beliefs abt that. one is that the soul can escape thru a sneeze, another that the body is expellin a demon, another that ur heart stops beatin when sneezin. * +

then there is the thing abt the bubonic plague nd how the Christians prayed to get well nd not to get it, when someone sneezed they were told 'Gob bless u' as a type of prayer, askin God's blessin that they don't get nd die from the plague. * +
