Does it go into depth about the history of battles and stuff thats mentioned in The Hobbit but isnt described in detail until she Silmarillion. So is it a combination of both books? Thats the only way I could think of it being a trilogy.

i was thinking the same thing. surely there is enough material in the books of lost tales too. * +
