In Oklahoma a judge sentenced a 17 year old to 10 years of church for manslaughter. The teen got into an accident while drinking and driving. Killing his 16 year old friend. The judge said He'll be Better served in a church pew than a prison cell.... unconstitutional much? * +

The killing was unintensional. However his actions were wreckless. Not that he is a psyco killer, a jail term would of ruined his life for the mistake. Rehab, community service etc. would be justified at his age. * +

I think it just sends a bad message. Having to go to church on Sunday isn't a punishment, its a luxury. While I agree he isn't a psycho, he should have had to go into an actual program. Going to church should have been his choice. Also you get a lot more time to pray in jail. * +

Prison would have ruined his life just like it has ruined many other Teenager's lives before him, thing is the environment of the prison is completely wrong, the stereotype put on prisoners like 'you're bad people' subconsciously has a very bad affect on them, they start believing they are incorrigible, hence they start acting like that even more to justify their given roles. The kid's life would have been screwed probably if put in a prison, and that was just one bad impact. * +
