I think that it's common practice to send ships to pick up and or protect American citizens in hot zones. And to speculate about other reasons for being there is simply speculation . And yes, it's normal for ships who are out of port to have weapons * +

no its not normal. even our ship (Malaysian Perdana Global Peace Foundation Ship) Rachel Corrie, that only brought Food, Medicine n Construction Materials to the Palestinians in Gaza were intercepted n forced to go to El Arish in Egypt, The supplies were sequestered and after some months were taken by others to Gaza. n we do not know wether the people in Gaza ever got the supplies meant for them. n what makes 3Ships that carries Weapons allowed there at the crisis area? * +
