Later today the General synod of the church of England is to vote on whether or not to allow women bishops.Hope they vote yes but if they vote yes will it mean a big split in the church? * +

It will possibly see the returning of many who think they need a church, return to the Roman Catholic Church. * +

I think what needs to be done is look for evidence overlooked dealing with early christianity and its communities. There had to have been not only female bishops, but also female priests. The whole patriarchal argument is hinging on the allegation that Peter was the first to see Jesus risen. But not so. It is Mary Magdalen. A fact largely ignored but quite evidently in the bible. * +

I for one welcome the idea of women bishops and priests. * +

i too hope for a yes. I don't think it will split the church, after all, the ordination of women as priests was supposed to be the big divider, and that didn't bring a split. I think the traditionalists have got used to the idea now. This is just the next in a logical progression. Don't think the church is ready for a woman archbishop of canterbury.......yet * +

Zipporah... Of course in mentioning the priestly duty of circumcision to prevent her family from being slain, strangely enough it was acceptable to Yahweh... But then again that would lead me to start a rant that I'd hate to go down... * +
