What do u think bout internet freedom? As we see here in these forums there is censorship and bans etc, in sum cases the bans are fair and in others not so fair. But what about the rest of the 'net? Having just watched a programme I downloaded on hackers and activists it raised a few questions in my mind about whether of not the internet is as free as we think. * +

First example is 4 muslims...much of what is seen in certain muslim nations is monitored and controlled. During the start of the egyptian uprising internet usage within the country rocketed as many shared their experiences...then nothing. Access was cut! Many muslims believe their media is great but certain sections of ur people are restricting what others see is that fair in ur opinion? * +

And america...we've all heard the stories of hackers being arrested 4 various 'crimes' but are their intention really malicious? On the show they saw there activities as a viable form of protest against their goverment and others...sum have been jailed 4 this. They say it is the only way their voice will be heard and hope 2 bring back democracy...which they feel was ruined decades ago. * +

Wikileaks was an example used. Certain companies such as paypal pulled out from wikileaks stopping sum of its financing yet there are sites linked 2 terrorists and 2 neo.n.a.z.i.s etc that can still accept payments thru paypal, how come?!?! * +

In egypt when the uprising took place and the goverment tried 2 control internet access the hackers found their way thru and made contact with people and passed their messages on thru their own alias's via twitter and facebook. Again help was given 2 tunisians also. Maybe the same will happen wiv syria and surrouding areas that have been affected by that conflict. * +

China is another country guilty of controlling what their people see and do via the internet and social networking and I think many countries are guilty of this. * +
