One mother, whose 13-year-old daughter was given the implant, said it was 'morally wrong.' She claimed the school had gone ahead without consulting their family doctor. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said the pupils had to simply fill out a questionnaire about their medical history. They then underwent a consultation with health experts before receiving the contraceptive but there was a lack of follow-up appointments * +

Is this an effective way to reduce teenage pregnancies? * +

No , but preferable to abortions which schools already organise behind parents backs, which has also already caused death * +

Its not a service that schools should be offering but young people do need contraception. If you are one of the people who feel that you can go to your family in your early teens and tell them that youre going to become sexually active and could they advise you on contraception then thats great. But thats pretty rare. This should only be offered through the correct medical channels but I dont think parents need to be informed or consent to it. * +
