Culture. He practiced something that in today's standards would be considered p*dophilia. Back in the day kids were seen as miniature adults and not as we see them by today's standards. Now, the debate is. Was she a child or adult? As I've seen some Muslims claim she was 18 and not 6 * +

psychological trauma, she was very happy with her marriage with Muhammad as well both Shia'a and sunni admit that. And As fireyes said back then It was a normal culture/tradition when Children were married to older people, I have read this verse in the Quran somewhere saying a women should only get married If she is physically mature fully, not sure where. But yeah.
