i believe there was some universal language at first, some angels' tongue that died within the Tower of Babel. Which is now the tongue speaking. Also that the apostles spoke their language and were understood by others i dunno. * +

speaking in tongues is hardly anything to fear or mock. its proof one is filled with the HOLY GHOST and can be proven to be valid with the word of GOD

It CAN be proof of the Holy Spirit (not all are given the gift of tongues), and it IS proven in the Word of God, but not the way it is done today. * +
