Heres a copy of a recent blogg made by this channel 4 journalist, he claims that syrian rebels led his convoy into a kill zone where the syrian military would have shot and killed him and his companions, the aim of which would have been to blame assad for killing news reporters.. * +

Standing outside the Safir Hotel in Homs as the white UN Nissan landcruisers stood waiting, the Irish officer in charge, Mark Reynolds, came over: 'Usual rules Alex OK? Were not responsible for you guys. If you get into trouble well leave you, yes? Youre on your own.' * +

So he would have been killed by Assads forces and then the rebels would have blamed Assads forces for killing them. Yep, got it. * +

'Yup no problem Mark. Understood.' I always say that, sort of assuming it will never come to that in any case. Just two UN plus the local police white patrol car marked 'Protocol' as escort, moving south through the peaceful areas of Homs, unmarked by war. Barely ten minutes south from the city and its good bye protocol. The last Syrian Army checkpoint is right on the main highway south to Damascus. * +
