the procreation reason is also invalid as many straight couples either can't or choose not to have kids. This is why the ability to confer legal marriages must be stripped from all religious bodies and be made solely a function of the state. You wouldn't go to church to get a drivers license or gun license, why go there to get an officially recognized marriage? they should only provide purely symbolic ceremonies, that way they can keep their segregation for those that want it.
