Ya, 5 november, been so long ago since me and my family actually lit any firecrackers. It might as well be the 12th november or something.. When I was a kid I was always looking forward to that day because my dad let me light the rockets by myself. Now I cannot even remember which day it takes place. confuse Lol Do not even ask about Halloween! It is dead like a dodo here, though my brother celebrates his b-day on that day. pmpl * +

Lol. We used to use left over fireworks from dewali for guy fawkers day. We would make a dummy with old clothers, dry grass and a stick up the dummys rear end, then walk around house to house collecting left ova fireworks which we pack in2 the dummy, then light it in an open field screaming 'guy fawks guy, shoot him in the eye, let the bug*er die.' * +

again Kim you miss the point, its about the numbers, you have to give religious groups off for their days. the other groups lack the numbers to make a difference but the volume of Christians in South Africa would shutdown the country public holiday or not.

Again, secular country not christian, numbers are irrelevant. I'm fully aware the country would shut down anyway. That's fine. The difference being it would not be a recognized public holiday and paid leave would not be compulsory, currently it is. Why should, in a secular country, one religion have officially recognized holidays with paid leave and others have to rely on whether their employers choose to give it to them or not? * +

pmpl we just put the guy on the fire and let off the fireworks. Neat twist to combine the two *
