in ancient times the main role of the female was to produce as many children as possible to increase the size and therefore the strength of the tribe. it made sense to marry a younger woman as she would be fertile for longer than an older woman. thankfully, the need for many children is no longer with us and so an inverse in the age of consent is the obvious path to follow. the societies which have lower ages of consent are in general tribal in nature even today. * +

You state here marriage is a contract between 2 people that understand their contract. You didn't mention ages just understanding. I said understanding is irrelevant because minor children cannot enter a contract of marriage even if they say they understand it. That's what I was going on about, its not that complicated.

well its a contractual agreement, and with it goes maturity etc etc... and with that comes the majority of age.... which preferably is 18 *
