No. Tithing was an ordinance for the law covenant which was used to sustain the priesthood. Its not restated for christians. * +

In the old covenant yes. Read Deuteronomy 14:22-26. From their livestock and crops they were to tithe to God, it was for the sustenance of the priests. This ordinance was not restated in the new covenant but freewill offerings are encouraged. Preachers who demand tithe merely fleece their followers. *
