just a few things to add. We believe that Muhammad was a prophet of God, we also believe that God has promised to protect the Quran. In that light with regard to the islamic belief system God could easily warn the Prophet. The other argument that can be made is that there were others who could read and thus would be able to verify the contents being writing were the same verses being recited. *
