I know the current scientific explanations traces it to a big bang.. A singularity existing on a day without yesterday etc... But what about the singularity itself or its constituents come from. And matter. Can lifeless, mindless, non-existent matter emerge into existence in a void on its own? What do you think? * +

Theism offers the simplest explanation, and by Occam's razor, the most likely to be correct. An eternally existing intelligent source, in a higher dimension than ours, whereby his 'normal actions' like producing existence from non-existence seem like magic to we of this dimension. * +

you could think of it as a circle. where is the beginning and ending of a circle? as for the aliens, they could in theory come from anywhere in the universe. maybe there was even more than one set of aliens who influenced us, maybe they didn't even know of each other and we're one half of one aliens experiment and another half of the others experiment. maybe, or not. * +

if there is a higher being in another dimension who could create existence i still wouldn't call it god as i don't think it would meet my requirements for what god should be. * +

Whichever beginning we hypothesize, isn't it true that we'll ultimately reach a point of 'nothingness' from which 'something' has to emerge by some mechanism @Kim? The origin of origins itself. Are there any scientific theories regarding this? * +
