They're Jewish sects that take things to an extreme. Leviticus 19:27 says not to cut the sidelocks short around. It doesn't mean not to keep neatly trimmed. If these Orthodox Jews are supposed to follow the Laws on appearance, then by rights they should have fringes on the edge of their clothes with a blue thread running through, symbolizing their belonging to God. The growing of their sidelocks is an extreme interpretation that is incorrect. * +
