The detention centre has been going for 10years now but has it achieved again?I think it's been counter productive.There are still 171 people there from over 800 what have passed through.89 of the remaining inmates have been cleared but have nowhere to go * +

May have been started with the best of intentions but it has been an embarrasment as for as i am aware very few inmates if any have gone on to be charged and it has proven to be a useful tool to aid islamic extremists * +

It's a symbol. Seemingly absolute power doesn't lower its head to justice or human rights. It's a lesson, proof of what authority thinks of citizens and the 'powerless'. * +

On January 7, 2011, President Obama signed the 2011 Defense Authorization Bill which contains provisions preventing the transfer of Guantanamo prisoners to the mainland or to other foreign countries, and thus effectively stops the closure of the detention facility. However he strongly objected to the clauses and stated that he would work with Congress to oppose the measures. * +
