Hi guys and girls. Been a while since I was on pro. I trust you are all well! I thought I'd pop in today and share this testimony with you. * +

A close friend of mine has just been in Africa for a few weeks in the mission field. I know there are some people out there who have tried to discredit Christian missions by claiming they force the poor to become Christian before giving them food and stuff, and I just want to share some of the experiences that my friend had so you can get an insight into the real world of Christian missions. * +

The mission he went to is based in a remote location in Africa. When he arrived, he had to go through customs, where they wanted to arrest him no reasons given. After some nervous hours and explanations as to the purpose of his visit, they finally allowed him through when they realised he was going to be a helper at the particular village he was going to. * +

The mission set up at this village does a tremendous amount of charity work for the people there. The mission relies on donations from other Christian organisations from around the world to provide food, water and medical assistance to these people, who would otherwise have nothing. * +

My friend shared with me how some people from surrounding villages walk 4 hours every day, once a day, to receive food and supplies which the mission supplies freely. He told me there was one little boy, about 4 or 5 years old, who would walk the 4 hours every day carrying his baby sister on his back. * +

Every day the mission supplies food freely to whoever comes. The villages are extremely impoverished because they have no form of income and live far from any cities. The land is dry and cant be farmed. They cant move closer to the cities. It is a majority Muslim country, and in the cities they will not be employed unless they are Muslim. * +

This is not intended to put down my Muslim friends or Islam itself, but the reality is that this is what the Muslim business owners do, be it according to their religions best practices or not. Thats just the reality of the situation these people are in over there. * +

So the Christian mission looks after them in their village. Christians from around the world volunteer to go there for weeks at a time to help and to do what they can. My friend was one of them. * +
