yes dgsn, soil cant appear from nowhere on land apart from what is available on existing land to produce it. 'deposits' originate from existing material. It doesnt return from the sea where it goes to. * +

rivers deposit it onto land, so does rain and wind. * +

it is also made up of decomposed vegetation and dead animals. Many lichens break down stone into soil as well *
