The wikipedia source isn't saying what you've been saying, that its unknown undocumented prophecies that foretold messiah would live in nazareth. Have you abandoned that theory? * +

Now lets look at the wikipedia theory and at actual scriptures. Notice the disjoint between the hebrew netzer and greek nazaret. Nazareth the town is NOT derived from the hebrew netzer. Its from the greek nazaret. Arguing that the hebrew netzer is the greek nazaret is like the islamic claim that the hebrew machamadim is the arabic muhammad. They sound similar to an extent but they're in two different languages referring to two different things. * +

Lets sample a few of those prophecies. Jeremiah 23:5 ''Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that I will raise to David a righteous branch, and a King shall rule and prosper...'' Isaiah 11:1 ''There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots, and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him...'' Zechariah 3:8 ''Hear now, O Joshua the high priest... Behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.'' * +

Notice something about the branch (netzer). The prophets say the messiah himself IS the branch. They don't say he will live in a town called the branch (netzer). Now read Mathew 2:23 ''And he came and dwelt in a city called nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.'' * +

Even in the impossible case of the hebrew netzer having a connection to the greek nazaret, Jesus living in nazareth does not fulfill his being the netzer. Mathew does not claim that Jesus IS the nazareth but that his city of dwelling is called nazareth. Living in nazareth therefore has nothing to do with what the prophets said. Mathew quotes a spurious prophecy and has Jesus fulfill it, to prove he's messiah. *
