Examining truth through words is very difficult because of the limitations of our languages but we are able to test the validity of knowledge amongst the criteria for truth through priori (Rationalism) and posteriori (Empiricism) methods. As this is a RnB forum I will keep the focus mainly to understanding how truth is acquired in Theology but welcome any other epistemological discussions. * +

Ok! so... Can knowledge be discovered by reason alone? First I would like to discuss how truth can be determined through religion so I'll use God as an example. A God-fearing person's adaption of what they consider to be true may also be heavily influenced by emotions, intuitions and instincts. truth for one is not necessarily the truth for the other. So this contrast between truths may give us an idea why certain people will go towards believing or not believing in a certain faith. * +

Another aspect which has significance on how we accept truth is the authenticity of the source in which it's acquired, for example we are more likely to accept information that is given to us by an authoritative (someone who is a specialist within their own field) such as a doctor or a scientist, a theist may also consider a priest or nun as an authoritative. * +

If you are at a extreme of either scope you may reject the opposing authoritative, i.e.. A Religious rationalist may reject claims from a scientist or an empirical Atheist may reject the teachings of a priest. Thank you for taking the time to read my post :) * +
