The 'noah flood myth' ostensibly came from Sumer (see Gilgamesh). Where was Sumer located? On a flood plain between the Tigris and the Euphrates. There would've been periods when Sumerian bards and poets witnessed intense flooding, an event that seemed to affect the whole world. So it's logical to assume that they were inspired by such events. Of course, this is just one argument among many. * +
