Researchers think theyve identified the earliest known human ancestor, according to a collection of papers published in the September 9 issue of Science. Australopithecus sediba, which exhibits a mix of primitive and human traits, could rewrite the story of our evolution, replacing other species as the most likely predecessor of the Homo genus.
