I'm suprised no one has made a topic yet. Anyways. My thinking is, if the people fighting don't care about the people. Why should anyone else care? * +

The people fighting seem to have enough money to buy AK47's. So why do people say Somalia is poor? * +

If you think about it. Who raised these leaders, or whoever that clearly don't care if their countrymen suffer? So, it becomes a moral problem within the country, that the soldiers(leaders) whomever, were not raised to have a love for their own people. And the poverty and suffering is a natural consequence of that. * +

hi nolisto1... i dont know much about somalia n the root of problem there, but in my opinion, its the greed of power money, and the like, which brings such n such nasty situations (like the somalian conflict or other conflicts.) * +

The media has blamed an islamic faction for restricting aid to the suffering however aid workers on the ground say the group are actually helpful to the cause.. a similar situation happened before in 1991 during widespread famine and prompted US troops to lead a UN peacekeeping mission.. * +

Not sure who givin aid as the UN has requested 1 billion contributions, the US stated it would provide al shabab with aid if they can garantee its distribution wheras the the world food program has continued to secure contracts with agents named and shamed in a 2010 UN report for diverting aid.. * +
