The Greek equivalent of ne'phesh is psykhe and is the same thing. Bible usage shows the soul is a person or animal or the life that such creatures enjoy. The idea of a soul being like a spirit that survives death of the physical body is not a Bible teaching. * +

I dont know why the word death cant mean a loss of hope etc,as beige described.I dont have any problem with accepting that when we physically die we are asleep until the appointed time,tho * +

wouldn't that get confusing if the author called loss of hope death. Then when they ment death what would they say? And if it says death but its not death then the bible becomes untruthful * +

Maybe it wud but that's language n translation for ya.It cant be denied that sumtimes the word death is used in other ways than literal,tho.Which is all i asked,how do we know if it's always meant literally or are there slightly diffrent uses *
