If i could travel back 2,000yrs, i could see how they all lived before Christianity invaded Britain.

Then my 2,000yr advanced germs would create the mother of all plagues, everyone would die, i wouldn't have existed in the first place and therefore never time travelled.

Of course, to time travellers, we're in the past. As this hasn't happened we know it never does, so time travel will forever be a wonder. * +
