Using your logic..a schizophrenic decides to jump off a bridge and kill himself, because it was premeditated that means he wasn't mentally ill in the first place.

I don't agree with the death penalty in any circumstances. She was obviously mentally ill for doing what she did. Life in a secure mental institution and medication would in my mind have been appropriate.

It's long accepted in the states that you can act in a sane way to achieve an insane goal. The abuse she suffered was truly horrendous but she did understand that what she was doing was wrong . So can't be classed as legally insane. If she's not insane then she deserves the death penalty for her crime was worse than any abuse she suffered * +
