I have never been able to feel strong sentiments in the way of commemorating soldiers and honouring war heroes who fell in battle and war.
Maybe it's because patriotism and national sentiments always felt very little to me in the way of a more globalcentric approach. But since others honour the fallen soldiers so much, there is probably a grain of truth to those sentiments.

Patriotism is: the quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one's country.

Yeah that's a load of crap. I'm about the people, not some random land border. Still have respect for the brave people who had to go into battle though, and sacrificed their lives in such a scary and horrible situation, so that we could live the lives we live. * +

I went to my local war memorial, small service and quite a good turnout considering everything, not the usual Remembrance Day for me though as it usually ends up an all day drinking session after the parade.

I went to pay my respects at the local war memorial this afternoon, I don't think there'd been the usual service/parade they normally hold there this year though. Place had been tidied up a bit and there were a couple of other folk who turned up to do the same thing as me but I didn't see any newly laid wreaths or anything. * +

The vicar done a small service , no singing but lords prayer, then the silence, wreath laying from various groups and that was it, under the circumstances it was good. *
