His creativity,inventiveness,rhythm playing,constant advancement,reverse guitar solo's,use of feedback are still unmatched. Jimi very seldom played a song or a solo the same way twice. He was great for his era that's true,his music is still unparalleled in this era and dare I say it will be that will remain as long as electric guitar playing is a thing. Oddly enough Van Halen didn't much listen to Hendrix. Eddie said he found Jimi's music too abstract.

The solo in Comfortably Numb is regularly voted the greatest guitar solo of all time. Gilmour is a fantastic player. His solo's are always well thought out.

Was just reading about the racism the Van Halen brothers had to endure growing up first in the Netherlands and then America. Also my favourite solo is Mr Crowley as played by Zakk Wylde rather than Randy Rhodes. * +

I am a bit of a heretic in that I have never really been an Ozzy or Sabbath fan with the exception of a couple of songs and the No More Tears stuff and that is mainly due to Wylde. *
