The DWP are now demanding that anyone applying for PIP (a disability benefit) who wants their assessment recorded pay 1,400 pounds for a Neal CD interview recorder. No other device used to record the assessment will be deemed acceptable. * +

So should you wish for your interview, assessment to be recorded when you apply for PIP no other recording device is acceptable. I wonder if you can take a witness in with you? Maybe have them film the assessment? * +

so their effectively saying, yeah we've got something to hide, so much so that we're trying to discourage the very idea of an honest record.

they'll probably make the argument that only this specific system is compatible with their infrastructure. the claimants own recordings don't need to be compatible though. * +

Might be a sound investment to buy one of these recorders and hire them to folks who need it. I'm sure they couldn't object to someone using a hired one, if they say that's not allowed then it's a bit fishy. * +

they have that covered too, and have for years

1400 +VAT seems to be quite expensive given that Atos insist the equipment needs to callibrated by an approved egineer prior to each recording - I wonder if Neal (the manufacturer) recomend this callibration regime in order to guarantee the efective use of their product - or perhaps you get a free egineer with each device in which case 1400 now seems cheap. * +
