My in-laws were in a small boat out near their holiday house and spotted a 30 foot whale right next to them. What was your most memorable encounter with nature?

I have encounters with these guys a few times a year but so far only was confrontational

Probably the swarm of hornets that invaded my back garden a few years back when I had some friends over for a BBQ. The ensuing panic and chaos as we fled for shelter was pretty memorable.
We heard them before we saw them but didn't realise what it was until this big, ball shaped cloud of them appeared over the hedgerow like something out of a cartoon. * +

I fed and petted a stray cat without getting attacked. I don't like pets or animals that much (mainly because I get really nervous around them) and I always feel like such an outcast for not being an animal person, but I felt good after doing that lol

Momming an injured pigeon once, and a ateil (or something similar) was also pretty memorable! * +

A few nights ago I kept hearing a noise from near the window, pulled back the curtains and there was a deer eating my wife's potted plants on the window sill. I had a portable light and it just looked straight at it and then carried on eating. I couldn't photo thro glass tho. was there about 20mins. not the GREATEST' encounter ever, but a good recent one. * +
