yes there's a minimum transaction (5 quid I think) because the retailer pays to use the credit or debit card service. * +

It's a bit annoying, you feel like you should be able to use your money any way it comes, but yeah, as Mel said, the shop has to pay to use the swipey thing, so they often have a minimum. Not sure what the point of repeating him was. But hey.

Depends on the shop. 'Big name' shops such as Co-op, Tesco Extra, One Stop etc don't charge. I use contactless for everything, even if it's just a drink or ice cream. Unless it's a small independently-run one or the common 'Premier' franchise here, they tend to be 3 quid. * +
