It's pissed it down on and off for most of the past week, we've now got flash flooding in several parts of the country. Parts of N.Yorkshire saw over a months worth of average rain fall in just a couple of hours, leading to herds of livestock being swept away and drowned and now in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire there is a dam in danger of bursting after part of it collapsed due to earthworks being undermined by the heavy rain. Over 6000 people have been evacuated from homes downstream in potential danger of being destroyed if the dam does give way.

See what I mean about the very changeable weather here? In contrast with Aussie/S.African summers, where you may get occasional extreme/unusual weather events but you can generally expect sustained periods of hot dry weather.
