If somebody killed your pet, could you sue them for doing it in your particular country?
Best, would the law allow such a person to be imprisoned, wherever that may be?
I'm thinking the animal safety NGO watchdogs will be the first to react to such a deed.

yes in the UK our RSPCA can refer cases to the police for prosecution just for neglect or mistreatment. killing an animal unlawfully is a criminal offence in it's own right. * +

Yes a scumbag in my village hanged his housemates dogs in a local park.

RSPCA prosecuted him and he got 6 months jail.

If he ever does return. He'll probably be swinging in the park himself.

Yeah, the UK's covered. Quite how successful it is statistically, and whether punishments are enough, is another matter. But the Brits love their animals, and the law backs this up on paper and in a selection of known cases. * +

Rescued a baby squirrel once, everywhere I turned they wanted to put it down. I wanted to keep him but it caused a domestic and I eventually drove 80 miles from home to find a sanctuary. * +
