Yeah, if it was a grey squirrel it's responsible for the decimation of the red squirrel species in the UK, they're just rats with a fluffy tail, should've smashed its head with a brick. * +

I once rescued a puffling(a young puffin) that had washed up exhausted on the beach after a storm out at sea. I rang the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton cliffs(which is only about 30miles up the coast and home to one of, if not the, biggest puffin colonies in Europe) and offered to take it to them but they said no and gave me another number to ring and report it.
To cut a long story short I ended up taking it home in a cardboard box, putting it in an old rabbit hutch in the shed and feeding it tinned anchovies for a couple of days until a nice lady drove all the way from Wales to come and collect it from me. * +

Here in Oklahoma we do have Animal Cruelty laws. Some are misdemeanors, but anything resulting in the death of a pet and livestock are a felony. And with the so-called Make My Day laws, since pets and livestock are considered as property you can use lethal force to protect your pets and livestock.
I cannot remember the details, but there have been at least two cases here where people were not prosecuted for protecting their pets or livestock with lethal force. *
